Web Account Guidelines

UCO will provide links from the Official University Site, hereafter referred to as UCO Home, to web sites that are hosted on campus servers, are maintained by UCO students, employees or contracting party, and promote academic interests, departments, or student organizations, hereafter referred to as entity sites. UCO does not operate in any respect the information, products or services on the academic interest or student organization sites. The materials in the academic interest or student organization sites are provided "as is" and without warranties of any kind either express or implied. UCO does not warrant or make any representations regarding the use or the results of the use of the materials in the academic interest or student organization sites in terms of their correctness, accuracy, timeliness, reliability or otherwise.

NOTE:  This guideline applies to sites that are for general public use.  For sites that are restricted to UCO community members, please use UCONNECT groups.

A representative may request a web site account and / or a web developer account on the university server for the sole purpose of promoting the entity.  The entity via its representative and/or sponsor agrees to use the web account to support official activities. Due to software licensing agreements, any commercial use of the academic systems is strictly prohibited. The representative agrees that all copyright and license agreements will be complied with and maintained. The account cannot be used for commercial gain, personal gain, or piracy.  If it is determined that a student organization may be in violation of the web guidelines and policy, the organization's links or resources will be removed pending a review of the alleged violation by the university conduct officer.

Procedure for account request:

• Site Representative fills out online request form.
• Representative is encouraged to attend the Information Technology  training classes.
• Site URL is assigned, host space is provided, and account/password are generated.
• Information Technology notifies representative of account information.
• The representative publishes the site content.
• Information Technology forwards request to University Relations for link approval.
• Information Technology modifies UCO Home page(s) to include link upon approval from University Relations.
