What is Respondus?

     Respondus is a third party program that allows for the creation and publishing of quizzes, exams and surveys to a WebCT course.

   Since most instructors already have typed copies of their exams, Respondus makes it even easier by supporting the import of questions from Word documents, Rich-Text documents or Text files. Simply make sure the file follows the "Standard Format" for Respondus and Respondus takes care of setting up the questions correctly.

What is the benefit of using Respondus, why not just use WebCT?

While using the Quiz tool within WebCT is still a very valid option, creating multiple questions can be a time-consuming process. This is especially true if you are creating a fifty question exam. Since you might already have a typed copy of the exam a little editing is all you need to do to be able to import them into WebCT.

Quiz settings and options are also accessible from within the Respondus interface. Set up question sets, randomize questions, set the dates available or point values all from within the program. When Respondus really comes in handy is when you are publishing the same or a similar quiz to multiple sections of a class.
