Response Pads

What are Response Pads?
Response Pads (or clickers) are a great way to
engage in "Active Learning" with your students. The Response Pads have been
shown to increase attentiveness in class and student understanding of
material.
Each student has a response pad,
and the instructor has a receiver and software installed on their computer.
As material is covered in class the instructor may ask questions, students
then enter their response using the Response Pad. Quizzes and Exams may be
given to large classes and they are automatically graded, saving the
instructor valuable class room time.
How does it work?
Each student has a response pad, and the instructor has a
receiver and software installed on their computer. As material is covered in
class the instructor can ask questions, give exams, or have the students take
quick quizzes.
The students answer using their clicker and the answers are
automatically recorded using the provided CPS software. The instructor has the
freedom to continue the presentation because the software has already tabulated
the grades and compiled statistics. For instance if eighty percent of the class
answered incorrectly (which can be viewed by the question statistics) then the
instructor may choose to revisit the material.
Another great feature is the ability to integrate with
PowerPoint with only short pauses to ask questions. Questions may have time
limits where you set it for example thirty seconds and then move on making it
easy to stay on track. Combine this with an easy to use Attendance function and
you have a well rounded product with good classroom functionality.
