IT@UCO provides computing, networking, e-learning, telephone, training, and
support services to students, faculty, staff and the University community.
- University of Central Oklahoma News, Networking, and Education
Communication Tool (UCONNECT) is the
University one stop shop for access to various systems on campus. It offers
news, student records, class access, email, groups, and various other
elements.
- Technology Support Services are just an email (support@ucok.edu) or
phone call (405.974.2255) away. The Help Desk is the central focal point for
technology questions and assistance. Technology Support is also responsible
for creating technical procurement specifications, deploying virus
protection software, and maintaining the student computer labs.
- Telecommunications Services are provided to make using the campus
telephone system easier and to help keep the UCO Campus Community informed
on telecommunication issues.
- Networking Services provide and maintain the high-speed connections to
the campus network and the Internet. Additional services provided by
networking include VPN access, email, and spam filtering.
- The Technology Resource Center provides
support for UCO’s academic technologies. TRC provides free training and
support to faculty, staff and students for all campus-wide software
applications, including WebCT, the Microsoft Office Suite, and others depending upon the ever-changing needs of a
dynamic university. TRC provides instructional design, training and support
to UCO faculty members to assist them in implementing the best practices of
technology use in their classes to help students learn. TRC also coordinates and supports all distance learning technologies
for the campus, including on-line courses and interactive television (h.323)
courses.
- Database Services maintains administrative applications and manages the
underlying databases and application servers.
- Programming Services helps users to satisfy their information management
needs by aiding in data access, reporting, application development, and the
exchange of information between systems.
- Web Services provide assistance to students, faculty, staff and the
university community interested in having an internet and/or intranet
presence in the form of a web site or web cast event.
- Computing Operations Services ensures that the University’s data is
available, reliable, and scalable through monitoring, back up, recovery and
disaster preparedness activities.
